Slippery Rock, Pa. - Slippery Rock entered Saturday's night game against Millersville as the only nationally-ranked team in the PSAC. The Rock proved their worth on both sides of the ball by defeating the Marauders, 75-0.
Slippery Rock, the defending PSAC champs, boasted the league's second-ranked offense and top-ranked defense after the first two games and had rushed for 414 yards one week earlier in a win over East Stroudsburg. Millersville led the league in total defense and rushing defense after the first two weeks but could not slow The Rock. They totaled 366 ground yards and 553 yards of offense while limiting Millersville 38 on 62 plays. Running back Julian Durden rushed for three touchdowns and with 111 yards, he was one of three backs with at least 88.
J.J. Paige earned his first start of the season at quarterback for Millersville, and he completed 10-of-20 passes for 90 yards. His top target was
Kevin Wiggins, who caught a season-high six passes for 41 yards.
Millersville improved it's PSAC-best sack total to 14 with one apiece from
Logan Kinser and
Ryan McIntyre.
Millersville returns home to host West Chester on Saturday, Sept. 26. Game time is 1 p.m.
The Rock has now won seven consecutive games over Millersville, and Saturday's point total was the most scored in the series.
