Rochester, Ny. – Millersville volleyball handled its first road test successfully as it took down St. Rose (26-24, 24-26, 25-15, 25-21) in four sets to improve to 5-0 on the year.
Kayla Wallace had another strong outing with nine kills while sophomore
Erin Harman had a team high 13 on just three errors. Freshman
Grace Dawson continued her impressive freshman season by tallying 29 assists in the match.
The first set was closely contested as Millersville had to come from behind. With the score tied at 22, the Golden Knights committed an error to give the Marauders the lead. Senior Brookly Smith then served to put Millersville ahead 24-22 off another error by St. Rose. The Golden Knights battled back to tie the score at 24 before the error bug would strike again to give
Alexis Hamm the chance to serve for the win. Harman proceeded to deliver an emphatic kill off Hamm's serve to give Millersville the victory in the first set.
The second set was similar to the first except Millersville came up short this time. The Marauders had an early 13-12 lead when St. Rose took control of the match and never lost control, winning the set, 26-24.
Just like the Marauders had done a week earlier against Ohio Valley, they responded to dropping a set. With the score 10-9 in favor of the Marauders, St. Rose committed an error that led to nine straight points for Millersville.Â
Brittany Ford finished off the set by sending home a kill to give the Marauders at 25-15 victory.
In the fourth and final set, it was a team effort by Millersville with six different players recording a kill. Only two players,
Erin Harman and senior
Emily Kaledas were the only two Marauders to have multiple kills. With the score tied at 21, Millersville reeled off four straight points to take the final set and match in convincing fashion.
Millersville stays in Rochester for another match tomorrow as they take on Roberts Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Â
