Women's Volleyball Continues Best Start in Program History

Rochester, N.Y. – In its final match of the Roberts Wesleyan Quad the Millersville women's volleyball team downed the hosts 25-21, 25-14, 25-16. The Marauders latest victory improves their overall record to 6-0; the Ville's best start in program history.

Millersville was led by sophomore Erin Harman, who tallied a game-high 11 kills and two aces. Grace Dawson had yet another impressive match with 25 assists continuing the strong start to her colligate career. Senior Brooklyn Smith recorded 25 digs for the Marauders and now has 109 digs on the season, which ranks her third within the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

The first set was the most contested as Millersville raced out to a 13-4 lead forcing Roberts Wesleyan into a timeout. However, the Marauders continued to dominate as a service error by Kate Steger earned the Black & Gold a game point (24-17). The Red Hawks would go on to rattle off a run of their own scoring four-straight points making it a 24-21 game. On the ensuing set, Grace Dawson delivered an emphatic kill off of a Kristina Button serve to give Millersville the victory in the second set.

The Marauders were paced by Erin Harman in the second set as she recorded four kills and an ace to give the Black & Gold the 25-14 victory. Millersville found it's rhythm on offense within the second set as it finished with a match best .231 hitting percentage.

In the third and final set, the Marauders stormed out to a 5-2 lead before the Redhawks scored four out of the next five points. Millersville had the answer and it was in the form of Grace Dawson who recorded an ace out of a Brian Smith timeout. The Ville scored eight straight points to close out the match after it was tied at 17 apiece.

The loss dropped the Redhawks to 0-5 overall. Millersville held a 36-28 advantage in kills, 111-105 advantage in total assists and were only tallied 12 errors in the match.

Millersville returns to Pucillo Gymnasium for its first home match since sweeping the Marauder Clash on Tuesday, Sept. 15. The Marauders are slated to host Chestnut Hill with a game time of 7 p.m.
