Millersville, Pa. – Renee Landis scored four goals and added three assists as the Millersville women's lacrosse team defeated Philadelphia by a 17-15 score on Thursday afternoon to win its second straight game.
Landis's seven points marked a career-best effort for the sophomore.
Bridget Hufnagel also netted four goals for the Marauders and
Hannah Vogel collected five points on two goals and three assists. Millersville has had 28 assists through its first three games, which is eight more than they had at this time last season.
Philadelphia jumped out to an early two goal lead after attacker Elizabeth Marrosu scored on a free position opportunity at the 27:50 mark in the first period. Millersville coach
Mia Hall immediately called a timeout to steady her squad. The Marauders returned to the field more focused and responded with six-straight goals capped off by a

Millersville scored another four goals to close out the first half including a fast break score with just eight seconds left by
Madison Long. The Black & Gold carried a 10-5 lead into the halftime break.
The Rams did not go away easily. Philadelphia cut into the lead and made it a 13-10 game with just over 18 minutes left in the second period forcing another
Mia Hall timeout. Once again the Marauders responded marvelously as it built a 17-12 lead with 10:07 remaining.
The deficit proved insurmountable as the Marauders coasted to the 17-15 victory. Goalkeeper
Shannon Davis was steady between the pipes all afternoon and notched her first career 10-save outing.
Millersville has taken advantage of home turf going 2-1 in Biemsderfer Stadium and luckily for the Marauders they have another two home contests before embarking on a three-game road trip beginning at East Stroudsburg on March 24.
The women's lacrosse team hosts Lindenwood on Sunday, March 15. The Marauders look to keep their early win streak alive against the unbeaten Lions with the contest slated to begin at 1 p.m.
