Millersville, Pa. – The nation's third-ranked team proved to be too much for the Millersville women's lacrosse squad on Sunday afternoon as the Marauders lost 15-7 to Lindenwood.

The teams traded possessions before the Marauders broke the scoreless affair at the 20:15 mark.

The Lions then began to trade goals with Millersville before going on a four-goal spurt during the final two minutes of the first period that left Lindenwood with an 8-3 lead at halftime.

Lindenwood's defense kept the high-powered Marauder attack in check all afternoon. The Black and Gold entered the game with the sixth highest scoring offense in the PSAC, but the Lions held Millersville to season-lows in goals, assists, shots, and draw controls.

Renee Landis led the Marauder attack with two goals apiece. Vogel now has 156 career points and needs another 28 to pass former teammate
Brooke Fisher for sixth place on the Millersville career scoring list. Bridget Hufnagle added to her team leading 13 goals with a strike at the 9:33 mark in the second period.

The Rams dominated the Marauders in the shot department as they held a 43-22 advantage. Lindenwood also scooped up 12 more ground balls than the home team and turned the ball over 10 fewer times.

Lindenwood (4-0) midfielder Melissa Menchella had a season high five goals to the pace the Lions, including the game-winner. Classmate Cassie Stucklen added another four goals, and Sophie Buelow had a team-high two assists.

Millersville goalkeeper
Shannon Davis had a breakout performance for the Marauders as she snared a career high 16 saves in the loss. Davis has now recorded two straight games with 10 or more saves.

The Marauders open up PSAC play next Saturday, March 21 when they host Mercyhurst at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium. First draw is scheduled for 1 p.m.
