MATCH OVERVIEW
• Millersville has four home duals remaining on the schedule and looks for a strong finish beginning Friday against West Liberty at No. 7 Mercyhurst. The Marauders are 6-5 but have lost three of their last four duals. West Liberty enters at 1-6 and Mercyhurst is one of the best teams in the nation, ranked No. 7 with a 13-1 dual mark. West Liberty and Millersville have a pair of common opponents in Pitt-Johnstown and Wheeling Jesuit. West Liberty and Millersville both lost to those opponents. West Liberty's combined score was 51-15 while Millersville's was 63-24.
• Injuries are taking a toll on the Marauders. After losing 197-pound Aram Moffitt to an arm injury, the Marauders lost a pair of 125-pounders in Austin Camacci and Alex Baider. The two had combined for 19 wins and both boasted winning records. Without Camacci and Baider, Millersville will be forced to forfeit the weight class on Friday. Millersville will also be without the services of 23-match winner Ian Shannon (165). Shannon was 11-0 in duals and had not surrendered a point in five of his last six matches. Freshman heavyweight David Wuestner has impressed lately. With 16 wins, he has the most by a Marauder heavyweight since Brad Ladd's 19 in 2013. He's won four of his last five bouts. Wuestner gives Millersville its best opportunity to produce three 20-win wrestlers for the first time since Jarrett Hostetter, Shane Smith and Jeremy Brooks all won at least 26 matches in 2008-09.
• Millersville has been wrestling since 1946 and West Liberty has had a strong program since 1962, but Friday is the first-ever meeting between the programs. Mercyhurst and Millersville have met three times since 2006-07 with Mercyhurst winning all three. Mercyhurst won last year's meeting, 47-3. The Marauders' lone win came from Moffitt. All nine of Mercyhurst's wins came with bonus points.
• Mercyhurst head coach Mike Wehler recently scored his 100th win with the Lakers. Prior taking over the program in 2007-08, Wehler was the head coach at West Liberty for three seasons. He has built the Lakers into a national power. This season, the Lakers are ranked No. 2 in Super Region 1, behind only Notre Dame, which is the nation's No. 1-ranked team. Five Lakers are nationally-ranked with 125-pound Willie Bohince the highest ranked at No. 4. Five wrestlers boast 20-plus wins. Eight of the 10 wrestlers in Friday's starting lineup are ranked in Super Region 1. Ryan Bohince (133), Jeremy Landowski (149) and Angelo Bortoluzzi (165) are No. 1 in the region.
