Millersville, Pa. – Without the services of double digit scorer Cornell Yarde II, Millersville entered Friday's PSAC West crossover against Seton Hill on a four-game losing streak and the Griffins led throughout handing Millersville a 92-77 loss in Pucillo Gymnasium.
The Marauders were certainly efficient from the field shooting a season-best 45.1 percent. However, the Black & Gold defense was unable to make enough stops during closing stretches of the second half. The Griffins 92 points were the most scored up through regulation since the 2001-02 season when the Marauders fell to Mountain State by a 96-78 decision.
Without Yarde II, forward Ricky Mosley and Ryan Beck shouldered more of the offensive load with both players producing career-high scoring figures. Beck was thrust into playing significant minutes in the first half due to Shawn Williams being in foul trouble and the freshman delivered with 12 points in the half. Mosley finished with a team-high 25 points, 22 of which came in the second half as redshirt junior was lights out from 3-point range going 6-of-8 from distance. Mosley scored 15 points within a four-plus minute span and brought the Marauders within six points at the 6:55 mark, but that was as close as Millersville came as the Griffins closed the game on a 24-9 run.
Millersville (2-6, 2-3 PSAC) had its opportunities forcing 20 turnovers, but the Marauders only scored 14 points off of the Griffins shortcomings. Seton Hill (2-5, 1-3) was led by a trio of double figure scorers. Sophomore guard Trevor Bloundin poured in 30 points on 10-of-15 shooting as he also hit four treys. Seton Hill's leading scorer Kameron Taylor chipped in 21 points and Brandon Alsoton added 11 points.
Millersville faces California (Pa.) Saturday at home. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
