
Marauders Post Solid Times In Saturday’s Tri-Meet

Bloomsburg, Pa. – The Millersville women's swimming team traveled to Bloomsburg on Saturday to battle the Huskies and the Gannon Knights in a tri-meet at the Nelson Field House Pool.
The Marauders came up just short against the Knights dropping a 105-95 decision and also fell to Bloomsburg, 139-56. The losses dropped the Marauders to 2-2 in dual meets this season. Millersville posted outstanding times across the board as it posted eight top-three finishes on the afternoon including two first-place finishes by Grace Magerr and Janelle Laudermilch.
Laudermilch earned her first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke. The senior just edged out Gabby Borza from Gannon as she finished in 2:34.16.
In the 200-yard medley relay the quartet of Emily Fusco, Janelle Laudermilch, Rachel Malampy and Brigid Kavanaugh shaved nearly a second off the Marauders top time in the event as they finished second with a recorded time of 1:53.66. Malampy also earned a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. The junior finished the event in 1:59.30.
Brigid Kavanaugh was milliseconds away from nabbing a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle. The Urbana product posted a 25.21 time in the event as she finished behind Meghan Gallagher of Bloomsburg.
Grace Magerr began her afternoon with a first place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle. Magerr won the event a week ago against Lock Haven, and on Saturday she improved upon her PSAC Championship qualifying time pacing the field and touching the final wall in 10:41.46. The reigning PSAC Swimmer of the Week finished her afternoon competing in the 500-yard freestyle where she posted a third place finish. Magerr finished the event in 5:22.34.
Backstroke specialist Emily Fusco placed third in the 200-yard backstroke. The sophomore touched the final wall with a recorded time of 2:15.01.
In the final event of the afternoon Brigid Kavanaugh, Lizzie Ebert, Rachel Malampy and Marina Barrineau teamed up in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The quartet posted a solid time of 1:42.15, which was good for third.
Millersville has the week off in preparation of the F&M Invitational in Lancaster, Pa. The meet begins on Nov. 20 and continues through Nov. 22.
