
Women’s Swimming Wins Second-Straight Dual

Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville women's swimming team won 11 of the 14 events on Saturday afternoon against Lock Haven downing the Bald Eagles, 143-112. Saturday's victory was the Marauders second dual meet win of the season and the first at Pucillo Natatorium.
The Ville began the meet finishing in first place in the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of Emily Fusco, Janelle Laudermilch, Jaime Cessna and Brigid Kavanaugh took the top time with a finish of 1:54.58.
Grace Magerr began her afternoon finishing first and qualifying for the PSAC Championships in the 1000-yard freestyle. Magerr touched the wall in 10:49.63 and nearly two minutes faster than Taylor Andress of Lock Haven. In the 500-yard freestyle, Magerr broke the school record in the event qualifying for the postseason championships with a time of 5:17.54.
Sophomore Emily Fusco also broke a school record as she swam a 1:00.81 in the 100-yard backstroke. Fusco won the 200-yard backstroke as she finished the event in 2:15.82.
Janelle Laudermilch broke the program record in the 100-yard breaststroke in the fifth event of the afternoon. Laudermilch was just over four seconds faster than teammate Marina Bernal as the senior touched the wall in 1:08.81. In the 10th event, Laudermilch qualified for the PSAC Championships with a finals time of 2:32.58 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
In the 200-yard butterfly, Jaime Cessna qualified for PSAC's with a recorded time of 2:19.59. The Marauders had two postseason qualifications in the 50-yard freestyle. Brigid Kavanaugh and Marina Barrineau finished first and second with times of 24.93 and 25.57.
Rachel Malampy finished first in the 100-yard butterfly with a recorded time of 1:04.58 and qualified for the PSAC Championships with an outstanding effort in the 200-yard freestyle. The final Marauder first place finish came in the last event of the meet. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Brigid Kavanaugh, Lizzie Ebert, Grace Magerr and Marina Barrineau took the top time finishing at the 3:50.72 mark.
Millersville hits the road for its next meet on Nov. 7 when it squares off against Bloomsburg. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
