Marauders Sweep Warriors for PSAC Win

Millersville, Pa. – Millersville women's volleyball was victorious Saturday as it took down East Stroudsburg in straight sets (25-19, 25-20, 25-18).

Millersville was once again led by Erin Harman as she recorded 15 kills and 10 digs. Emily Kaledas finished with nine kills while Brooklyn Smith recorded 17 digs against the Warriors. Grace Dawson had another match with 30-plus, her 16th such match of the year, this time tallying 35 while adding 15 digs. Renee Drawbaugh provided a spark with the serve recording two aces for the second night in a row for the victory.

In set one, Millersville established dominance early as Drawbaugh served seven consecutive times and Harman recorded five kills on the way to an early 12-4 lead. When Tina Predojevich recorded a kill, East Stroudsburg began to mount a comeback cutting the deficit to four Desiree Claxton sent home another kill making it 19-15. Harman responded with one of her seven kills to give Millersville the momentum back. Millersville would finish off the set after Harman and Kaledas recorded kills and Predojevic committed a service error to give the Marauders the first set 25-19.

East Stroudsburg came out swinging in the second set taking a four-point lead when Madison McCunney sent home a kill to make it 9-5. With the aid of two errors, Millersville took the next three points as Harman recorded a kill to pull the Marauders to within one point. Errors continued to plague East Stroudsburg as they committed three more consecutively to help Millersville take its first lead 12-11. The Marauders began to gradually pull away extending their lead to three when Dawson and Kelsi Ceriana recorded a pair of kills. The Warriors came roaring back to tie the score when Millersville committed a pair of errors and Courtney Miller sent home a kill. Harman responded with a kill of her own and Dawson took over, serving for the last four Marauder points in a stretch that included three errors by East Stroudsburg as Millersville took a 2-0 set lead.

The two teams traded points to start the third set as Harman tied the score at 10 with one of her four kills in the set. Millersville held a two point lead when the Warriors recorded back to back kills to tie the score at 12. The two sides remained even until Katie Witwer sent home a kill and East Stroudsburg committed an error. The Marauders would not relinquish the lead despite East Stroudsburg's best efforts. With the score 19-18 in favor of the Marauders, Harman and Kaledas recorded back to back kills and the Warriors faltered again with another error. After an East Stroudsburg timeout, Dawson served for the last three points of the set as the Warriors committed another pair of errors and Harman sent home a kill to finally finish off East Stroudsburg 25-18.

The Marauders improve to 14-10 on the season (5-10 PSAC) and next host Lock Haven Friday night at Pucillo Gymnasium (7 p.m.).
