Marauders Take Care of Business Versus Lycoming

Millersville, Pa. - Austin Camacci set the tone with a pin in the first bout, and Millersville went on to win seven matches for a 24-12 victory over Lycoming Saturday afternoon in Pucillo Gymnasium.
The Marauders opened the dual with three consecutive wins and won four of the last five bouts. Six of the seven wins came by decision. Camacci scored his third fall of the season at 125 pounds. Millersville boosted its season record to 4-7 with the win while Lycoming's record fell to 11-8.
Camacci got the Marauders off to an aggressive start, scoring a takedown in the early seconds of the bout and nearly getting a pin. Lycoming's Jake Witmer got back to his feet, but Camacci took him down once more and quickly scored the fall at the 1:01 mark of the first period.
At 133 pounds, Thomas Nulty took control in the first period and remained in conrol the entire match, totaling four minutes of riding time in a 6-2 decision over Zachary Finn. David Charles followed with a 4-3 decision over Caleb Willey at 141 pounds, but the result stood in the balance for the entire seven minutes. Charles trailed 3-0 but escaped and hit a takedown in the final seconds of the second period to tie the score. In the third, Charles escaped quickly to take a 4-3 lead. Willey charged in in the final seconds and nearly scored a takedown, but time expired before he could gain control. Charles, the No. 3-ranked wrestler in Super Region 1, boosted his season mark to 15-12.
After Lycoming won decisions at 149 and 157 pounds, it was only fitting that on Senior Day, senior Zach Pincus ended the Lycoming run with a gutsy performance in a 3-1 decision that went to the sudden victory period. Twice in the third period Pincus nearly scored the winning points. Once the official called a stalemate just as Pincus was about to secure control of Brian Watkins' legs. He also nearly had two points as the third period buzzer sounded. For the second time in three days, Pincus' match went into the sudden victory round. After falling on Thursday to the nation's No. 2-ranked wrestler, Pincus quickly grabbed Watkin's left leg. With both wrestlers on their feet, Pincus forced Watkins to the mat for two points and the win.
Mitchell Ball followed with a 7-3 decision at 174 pounds, and after Lycoming got on the board at 184 pounds to close Millersville's advantage to 18-12, freshman Aram Moffitt clinched the dual victory with a dominating 7-1 decision at 197 pounds. Moffitt, who pushed his record to 17-12 with the victory, totaled more than five minutes of riding time in the victory. He did not allow Skylar Ebner to escape the entire the third period.
Millersville received three more points in the 285-pound class from Elijah Flasher. Flasher, who has wrestled above his usual weight all season, notched his first career win at heavyweight by dispatching Nikolas Christine, 6-4.
The Marauders are off for nearly two weeks before making the short trip to Franklin & Marshall on Feb. 21 for the annual Battle for the Rupp Cup, which is named in honor of former Millersville and F&M coach Dr. Ted Rupp.
