GAME NOTES
· Millersville hopes that its weekend bye doesn't slow the momentum it has been gradually gaining. The Marauders have won four of the last five and seven of the last 10 to pull its record to .500 for the first time this season, and at 5-4 in the PSAC East, the Marauders are just 1.5 games out of the No. 2 seed. West Chester is one of those teams currently slotted into the No. 2 seed, but Millersville won the first meeting of the season 86-85 on a
Brandon Brown buzzer beater. A Marauder win Wednesday would be key for tying-breaking purposes. Winning in Hollinger Fieldhouse is no easy task, though. At 8-1, the Marauders have been nearly unbeatable at home, but they are just 1-8 on the road with that lone win coming against 3-17 Cheyney. And while Millersville won in Hollinger in the 2012-13 season, historically, the team has struggled in the building. Millersville is just 3-16 in the building since 1995 and just 2-15 in regular season games. Millersville may have scored 88 points in back-to-back games, but it has not scored even 70 points in the last nine games at West Chester.
· Millersville has jumped to No. 4 in the PSAC in scoring offense at 76.7 points per game. Not only do the Marauders lead the PSAC in 3-point field goals made per game (10.2), they also rank sixth in percentage (.353). Millersville ranks 16th nationally in 3-point attempts and 11th in 3-pointers made per game. The shooting over the last 10 games has been outstanding. Millersville has hit 40.6 percent of its threes in that stretch and seven different players hit over 40 percent of their attempts.
Tyree Smith is 16 for his last 29 from three (.552).Â
· Millersville must remedy its road woes if it is to make a push for a home playoff game. The Marauders are averaging 81.3 points and shooting 39.6 percent from three while allowing 73.2 points per game at home. The team is averaging just 71.2 points per game and 30.7 percent shooting from three on the road while allowing 76.4 points per game.
· After missing the first 13 games of the season,
Kelvin Parker is starting to heat up. Parker scored 24 points on 10-of-19 shooting in his debut on Jan. 11, but struggled through the next three games, shooting 12-of-43 from the field and 1-of-16 from three. But since his 4-for-17 effort at Lock Haven, Parker has scored at least 20 points in back-to-back games and hit 14-of-22 shots from the field and 6-of-13 from three. He has also made an impact in other areas. He has averaged 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals.Â
· Millersville continues to receive production from its bench unit. While the Marauders have used nine different starting lineups, it has remained the same over the last three games and the bench has averaged 35.7 points per game. The bench players have excelled regardless of the starting lineup, as it has averaged 35.7 points per game on the season and has scored at least 40 points five times.
Â
WEST CHESTER
· West Chester enters the game with back-to-back wins by double-figures. The Golden Rams are fighting for the No. 2 seed with a 7-3 division record. One of those three losses came against Millersville on Dec. 4. Two of West Chester's three divisional losses have been by just one point. West Chester boasts a balanced offense with four players averaging in double figures. Troy Hockaday is averaging 16.9 points per gameand is shooting 45.5 percent from the field. He is the spark for West Chester's No. 2-ranked offense, which is averaging 80.8 points per game. West Chester has scored at least 80 points nine times.
