Lock Haven, Pa. - The Millersville women's swimming team finished first in six different events on Saturday afternoon against Lock Haven and defeated the Bald Eagles, 110-94.
The victory was the Marauders' second duel meet win of the season and the first on the road. Millersville finished inside the top two in all but two events and easily swam to the 16-point win.
The Marauders began the meet finishing in first place in the 400-yard medley relay. The quartet of
Emily Fusco,
Janelle Laudermilch,
Jaime Cessna, and
Marina Barrineau took the top time with a finish of 4:21.61.
Freshman
Emily Fusco picked up yet another first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke. The first year Marauder finished in 2:18.35 and was more than five seconds faster than the closest competitor.
In the 200-yard breaststroke
Bree Link touched the wall almost eight seconds faster than the second-place finisher. The sophomore finished at a time of 2:42.15.
Grace Magerr picked up the win in the 500-yard freestyle and her time qualified the junior for the PSAC Championships later this season. The Strath Haven product finished with a time of 5:26.18. Magerr also swam her best time of the season with a first place result of 11:01.56 in the 1000-yard freestyle.
The final Marauder first-place finish came in the last event of the meet. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of
Brigid Kavanaugh, Rachel Malmpy,
Grace Magerr, and
Marina Barrineau took the top time finishing at the 3:47.38 mark.
Millersville has the next two weeks off to prepare for the F & M Invitational in Lancaster, Pa. The meet begins on Nov. 21 and continues through Nov. 23.
