Millersville, Pa. - Three Kutztown running backs rushed for over 100 yards and the team piled up 383 rushing yards in handing homestanding Millersville a 54-7 defeat on Saturday afternoon.
Kutztown (3-2, 3-1 PSAC East) outgained the Marauders (0-5, 0-4 PSAC East) 479-140 and Terry Williams, James Wah Jr., and Darrell Scott all rushed for at least 102 yards and a touchdown. All three also had a run of 30-plus yards. Millersville's lone touchdown came in the fourth quarter on a five-yard rush from
David Coates.
The TD run was the first of the season for Coates and the second of his career. Coates rushed for a season-high 53 yards on 12 carries. Evander Barkely added 60 yards on seven carries and added a career-long run of 50 yards. It was the longest run by a Marauder this season.
Kutztown scored 33 first-half points including two Alec Rosenfield field goals and a touchdown run and touchdown catch from Scott. Scott capped a three touchdown day in the third quarter with a score that put the Golden Bears in front, 47-0.
Quarterback
Matt Misley failed to throw a touchdown pass for the first time this season and also threw two interceptions. Millersville's 42 yards passing was the fewest since Oct. 27, 2007.
Millersville travels to nationally-ranked Bloomsburg on Oct. 11 for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
