Weekend Overview
  • The Millersville women's soccer team looks to get back to its winning ways this weekend when it takes on PSAC West opponents Gannon and Mercyhurst on Pucillo Field. The Marauders have been on a tear as of late knocking off Edinboro, 1-0, Mansfield, 3-1 and Clarion 2-0. However, in its most recent affair, the Marauders suffered a 1-2 defeat to IUP. Millersville was able to strike first in just the eighth minute of action when Logan Neiman delivered a beautiful through ball that Halie Parker sent into the upper corner beating the goalkeeper for her fourth goal of 2014. Unfortunately, the Black & Gold defense wasn't able to slow down a very strong IUP attack, as it saw the Crimson Hawks score two unanswered goals.
  • Gannon travels to Millersville with a 4-4 record overall and the squad is on the heels of snapping a three-game skid. The Golden Knights trounced their rival Mercyhurst 4-2 as they dominated the pace and possession en route to the victory.
  • The Mercyhurst women's soccer team ended their four game losing streak with a win over Daemen College (N.Y.), 3-2. The Lakers struck first 23 seconds into the second half on a goal from junior Lauren Testa as they improved their overall record to 3-4-1 on the season.

Series History
  • The series between both schools is relatively new. However, in last season's matchup between these two PSAC opponents, the Marauders dropped 1-2 in heart-breaking fashion to Gannon. Millersville also fell to Mercyhurst 1-3 due to three late goals that propelled the Lakers.

Freshmen Phenom
  • The Marauders have received outstanding play from out wide on the pitch due in large part to freshman Logan Neiman. The North Eastern product came to Millersville as an All-State selection in 2013. So far on the season, Neiman has registered a goal and an assist while firing 10 shots on goal.

Shutout Queen
  • Redshirt junior Olivia Webber has been outstanding between the pipes for the Marauders ever since stepping foot onto campus. The Bernville native is quickly climbing up the programs record books as she recorded her 10th career shutout in the win over Clarion. With three already in the 2014 season, the sky is the limit for Webber, who only needs two more shutout efforts to have her name entrenched into Millersville history.

Scouting the Golden Knights
  • Senior Justine Rodrigues is a player to look out for as she's started every match of her colligate career. Rodrigues has a knack for beating goalkeepers as she has scored a team-leading three goals in 2014. For her career, she entered the 2014 campaign 19th all-time at Gannon in goals (11), 14th in assists (8) and 18th in points (30).

Scouting the Lakers
  • Offensively for the Lakers, they are led by a pair of upperclassman midfielders. Senior Janine Wong and junior Lauren Testa have combined for 19 points, nine goals, and one assist. Testa was a 2013 All-PSAC Third Team selection in 2013 when she led the team with 16 points while also contributing two game-winning goals.
