GAME OVERVIEW· Tuesday's match against East Stroudsburg has significant playoff implications for the Marauders. Millersville (6-4, 6-4 PSAC) has won two-straight games and carries plenty of momentum into the game against the No. 6 ranked Warriors. Millersville comes into the match on the heels of snapping Shippensburg's four-game win streak. Megan Newmister netted the only goal of day, leading the Marauders to the 1-0 decision at Pucillo Field.
· East Stroudsburg has been nearly perfect on the season as it carries a 10-1 overall record and 9-1 mark in PSAC play. The Warriors are ranked No. 6 in the current NSCAA Division II women's soccer poll, matching the highest ranking in program history. The only blemish to date for East Stroudsburg came in the first match of 2014 when they lost 1-0, to Kutztown. Since the loss, East Stroudsburg have rarely been tested as they've cruised to 10 straight victories with the most impressive on Oct. 4. The Warriors defeated Bloomfield 6-0, in a game that saw East Stroudsburg's offence explode from all over the pitch.
Â
SERIES HISTORY· Millersville hasn't garnered much momentum in the series, as East Stroudsburg has been a powerhouse in recent years. In last year's affair, goalkeeper
Olivia Webber recorded a season-high 10 saves, but the Black & Gold still fell to the Warriors, 1-0. The lone goal of the match was scored in the second half directly off a corner kick that was headed in past Webber.
Â
NEWMISTER ADJUSTING· Freshman midfielder
Meagan Newmister came to Millersville as a four-time all-county first team member. Newmister was a prolific offensive talent at Dallastown Area High School, finishing her career as the top goal scorer and assist leader in Wildcat history. The freshman midfielder recorded her first career goal against Shippensburg. Â Newmister received a flick pass from
Taylor Sprenkle that left her all alone inside the Raider box, and she sent the ball into the top corner of the net for her first career goal.
Â
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS· East Stroudsburg posseses an experienced and talented squad led by leading goal scorer Courtney Keller. The senior midfielder has started every match of her career, and this season she leads the Warriors in shots (29) points (13) and goals (5). Keller's 13 points is a career best, and she is looking to keep East Stroudsburg at the top of the PSAC standings closing out the year.Â
