Millersville Edges Harford Community College in First Dual

Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville men's tennis team took on Harford Community College on Friday afternoon in its first dual of the 2013-14 season. It came down to the final singles match but the Marauders came out on top, 5-4.

At No. 1 doubles, Jody Sambrick Jr. and Tucker Mertz fell to Leo Sanches and Bobby Frantz (8-5). Kevin Tran and Dylan Ryan defeated Tyler Cook and Turilo Duck (8-2) at No. 2. At No. 3 doubles, Christian Boyer and Anthony Jadus were victorious against Brandon Wolf and Andy Rao (8-6).

In No. 1 singles, Sambrick Jr. beat Sanches in three (5-7, 6-4, 6-1). Mertz defeated Cook at No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-2). In No. 3 singles, Tran fell to Rao (6-7, 7-5, retired). Tran left the match due to injury. Ryan and Duck faced off in the No. 4 spot with Duck getting a 6-3, 6-2 victory. The Fighting Owls won their third consecutive match in No. 5 singles when Frantz defeated Boyer (6-1, 6-1). With the team score tied 4-4, Jadus took down Wolf in No. 6 singles (7-6, 6-4) to seal the victory for the Marauders.
