Dukes and the Marauders responded less than three minutes later.
A yellow card by the Wildcats in the box granted Dukes a penalty kick and a chance to tie the game at one at the 9:42 mark. The captain captilized on the free opportunity and buried his target into the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
At the midway point of the first period, the Wildcats only needed 90 seconds to turn a 1-1 tied into a two goal advantage. Quantara scored in the 22nd and 24th minutes to give the home team a comfortable margain heading into halftime.
Wilmington continued their aggressive play in the beginning of the second half. The Wildcats received two yellow cards in the first 20 minutes of the final period, while Millersville concentrated their efforts into closing the gap on the scoreboard.
Vazquez scored his fourth goal of the year on great passes from
Austin DeHaven and Robbins. DeHaven took the ball down the sideline in the 66th minute and played a cross into the box. Robbins used finesse to quickly pass the ball along to Vazquez. Vazquez had a clear target and easily placed his shot into the cage. The sophomore is now tied for second in the conference in goals scored.
With the score 3-2, the Wildcats clamped down their defense and limited Millersville's opportunities. Wilmington held the Marauders to only one shot and no corners over the final 25 minutes. The Millersville defense did its job and kept the home team from scoring again, but Wilmington controlled possession at the end of the match to hold on for the win.
Millersville returns to Chryst Field at Biemsderfer Stadium on Saturday in its final non-conference game before PSAC play commences. The Marauders welcome LIU Post, the No. 2 team in the nation, for a 3 p.m. start.
