East Stroudsburg, Pa. - Coming off of back-to-back losses, the Millersville women's tennis team rebounded with a 7-2 rout of East Stroudsburg Tuesday afternoon to improve its record to 6-11 on the season and 3-2 in PSAC East play.
The Marauders swept doubles play, getting an 8-0 shutout win from No. 1 pairing
Melissa Plowman and
Kelsey Waite, 8-0.
Elizabeth Wagner and
Tori Davis followed that blanking by beating the Warrior tandem of Amina Dickson and Annie Vega, 8-4. The final doubles win came from
Nicole Daacke and
Alexandra Heller, who defeated Taylor Presby and Sarah DiGregory by a score of 8-4.
Singles play got wins from Plowman, Waite, Davis and Heller. Plowman defeated Allison Bean by scores of 6-0, 6-1, before Waite topped Dickson in straight sets with 6-1, 6-2 tallies. Davis played Presby in the No. 5 spot, taking set wins by margins of 6-1, 6-2. Heller finished out singles scoring by beating DiGregory in a one-set match, 10-4.
The women's tennis team has one more match to play before postseason play. Millersville takes on Shippensburg on the road this Saturday, beginning at 2 p.m.
