Millersville, Pa. - Thursday at the McComsey Tennis Courts, the Marauder men's tennis team couldn't take a match, coming out on the wrong end of a 9-0 shut out loss to Philadelphia University.
In singles play,
Tucker Mertz was the only player to win a set, falling to Nail Rachidi in the second singles match of the day, 4-6, 6-4, 10-2. Following Mertz,
Dylan Ryan and
Anthony Jadus both played to seven-point first sets, only to drop decisions to Dylan Bhaerman and Matthew Germani, respectively. Bhaerman beat Ryan 7-6, 6-4, and Germani came away with 7-6, 6-3 wins over Jadus.
In doubles play, the Marauders' first two teams both took two points apiece in a pair of 8-2 losses. The third pairing of Ryan and Jadus dropped a match to Bhaerman and Long Vo by an 8-3 margin.
The loss drops the Marauders to 2-7 on the season, while Philadelphia improves to 6-7. Millersville has now dropped its past six matches in a row, but has a chance to right the ship when it heads to Kutztown tomorrow to take on the Golden Bears. Start time for Friday's match is 1 p.m.
