Hilton Head, S.C. – After leaving Pennsylvania with a win in its final match Friday before the team's Spring Break trip to Hilton Head, the Marauder women weren't able to come away with a victory in the opening match of the week for the team, as it was blanked by Allegheny College, 9-0.
In singles play the team's No. 1 player,
Melissa Plowman, couldn't take down Carolyn Shetter, dropping both sets. Plowman's first set was a nail biter, but Shetter took a 1-0 lead into the break, winning 7-6 (5-3).
Elizabeth Wagner dropped her singles match in three sets to Sloan Prince, 4-6, 6-0, 10-7. None of the team's three doubles pairings could claim more than three points.
Millersville drops to 3-3 with Sunday's defeat, with Allegheny advancing to 5-1. The team plays its second match in South Carolina Monday afternoon in a 3 p.m. clash with the Blugolds of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
