GAME NOTES
· Millersville is making its first appearance in the PSAC Tournament since 2007-08 and is hosting its first postseason game since 2006-07. This Coach
Fred Thompson's eighth trip to the PSAC Tournament with his team finishing third or better in the PSAC East nine times. Millersville is 18-15 all-time in the PSAC Tournament with five championships in the tournament era (1981-present). Among all PSAC schools, Millersville with 10 PSAC Championships ranks second only to Cheyney. Since Thompson took over at Millersville in 1998-99, only three PSAC East teams have won the PSAC Championship and two of those belong to Millersville. In 20 previous tournament appearances, the Marauders have lost 10 times in their first game. Thompson, however, has made four consecutive appearances with at least one win and boasts a 9-5 tournament record. Millersville is 9-4 all-time in home PSAC Tournament games and has won four in a row.
· Shippensburg is making its first tournament appearance since 2006-07 and its fourth overall under Dave Springer, who started at Shippensburg in 2001-02. The Raiders won their only PSAC Championship in 1991 and have made just nine total tournament appearances. Six times Shippensburg has bowed out in the opening round. Millersville and Shippensburg have met in the postseason only once before. En route to a runner-up finish in 2005, the Marauders won 73-50 at Edinboro. This is the fourth time that the two programs have met three times in the same season (2004-05, 1999-00, 1994-95). Millersville has swept all three games just once (1994-95).
· After shredding Shippensburg for 53 points in two games this season, clear that the Carlisle native loves playing against the Raiders. After managing just two points in his first game against Shippensburg as a freshman, Coleman has scored in double figures in the last five and is averaging 17.2 points per game while shooting 48 percent from the field. Coleman averaged 12.7 points on 43.6 percent shooting this season, but against PSAC East foes, he posted 15.6 points per game on 48.6 percent shooting.
·
Larry Grant's 26 points on Wednesday marked his eighth 20-point game this season. Since returning to the starting lineup on Feb. 9, he's scored 20 or more in three times and has scored in double figures five times. He's averaged 17.7 points on 40.5 percent shooting, reached the line an average of 8.5 times per game, and incredibly has averaged 40.2 minutes per game. He has played over 40 minutes in four of the last six.
· The Marauders are 14-0 when they shoot a higher field goal percentage than their opponent but 0-3 when allowing teams to shoot better than 50 percent. Millersville is also 10-0 when holding teams to fewer than 60 points and 16-5 when holding teams to fewer than 70. The Marauders shot 57.4 percent from the field Wednesday--their second best number of the season. Millersville is 5-0 when it shoots better than 50 percent from the field.
