Men's Basketball Knocks Off No. 10 East Stroudsburg

Box Score Millersville, Pa. - On the strength of 20 points from Nate Bollinger and Larry Grant and 17 points and 15 rebounds from Elijah Obade, the Millersville men's basketball sprinted to a 31-point lead and cruised home for a 79-69 victory over No. 10 East Stroudsburg Wednesday evening in Pucillo Gymnasium.

Millersville (17-9, 13-7 PSAC) dealt East Stroudsburg (20-4, 17-3 PSAC) just its fourth loss of the season by holding the Warriors to a season-low 35.3 percent shooting from the field and well under it's PSAC-leading 77.6 point-per-game average. It was the Marauders' win over a nationally-ranked opponent since 2005. The turnaround from a month ago was remarkable. On Jan. 23, Millersville scored just 13 first-half points and lost 68-52. On Wednesday, Millersville overwhelmed the Warriors with deadeye shooting and a stingy defensive effort that limited the visitors to just 19 points on 22 percent shooting in the first half.

To make the upset all the more impressive, the Marauders pulled it off with starter Jaymes Miller sick at home, and red-hot scorer Anthony Coleman limited to just 13 minutes of action with foul trouble. Obade picked up Miller's load by sinking 6-of-7 shots and holding his counterpart Terrance King to 10 points and five rebounds. Bollinger provided a big lift early, drilling four of his first five shots and scoring 12 first-half points.

Over the final 9:48 of the first half, Millersville ripped off a 21-6 run that included a pair of triples from Bollinger, one from Brandon Brown and nine points from Larry Grant. Millersville made 7-of-12 shots and drained 7-of-7 foul shots in the stretch to lead 42-19 at the beak--its largest halftime lead of the season.

The Marauders extended the advantage to 63-32 with 11:27 to go on a put-back by Xavier Mumford. The lead remained at least 20 until the 4:07 mark when a frantic East Stroudsburg club started generating turnovers, and Millersville slowed its offensive pace to run the clock. The Warriors chipped away at Millersville's advantage over the final four minutes, cutting it to 10 on Matt Tobin's 3-pointer in the waning seconds, but the game's result was never in doubt.

Bollinger's 20 was his high as a Marauder. Grant played all 40 minutes and scored 20 for the seventh time this season. He also handed out five assists and recorded three steals. Mumford added nine points, nine boards and three steals. For East Stroudsburg, leading scorer Whis Grant returned to the lineup after missing the previous game and scored 18 points.

Millersville has two games remaining in the regular season. It travels to Mansfield on Saturday for a 3 p.m. tip.
