Dukes Leads Millersville to 4-0 Victory Over Seton Hill

Box Score Millersville, Pa. – A season ago Andrew Dukes assisted on the game-winning goal against Seton Hill. On Friday night, the senior forward scored the game-winning goal as the Millersville men's soccer team routed the Griffins, 4-0.

Millersville (9-4-1, 6-2 PSAC) was led by Dukes, who had his best game of the season, scoring two goals and adding an assist. The Glenmoore native now leads the team with 18 points and seven goals. Fellow senior Zack Caracciolo tallied the home team's second goal of the contest, while freshman Alex LaFaver knocked in the game's final score. Brad Benzing made two saves in goal and recorded his fifth shutout this year.

Seton Hill (9-5-1, 4-4-1 PSAC) was unable to handle the Marauder attack and gave up four goals on 14 shots to the home team. Trevor Martz had a team high three shots in the game for the Griffins, and goalie Josh Forbes suffered his second loss this season.

Dukes' initial score came 10 minutes into play after sophomore Jeramey Robbins was fouled in the box. Millersville was awarded a penalty kick and Dukes buried the free attempt to put the Black and Gold up 1-0 early.

The Marauders scored again right before the half when Caracciolo twisted his body in mid-air to volley a shot into the lower left 90, giving the home team a 2-0 edge at the break.

On a cold night one might expect that it would take a team a little bit of time to warm up after an intermission. That was not the case for Millersville as the Marauders wasted less than 60 seconds to go up 3-0 after the second half whistle.

Senior Ryan Rohrer took the ball into the left side of the box and played a centering pass to Dukes who one timed his shot past Forbes and into the goal cage for his second score of the contest.

LaFaver's goal came in the 67th minute on a pass from Dukes. The four goals by the Marauders was the third, four-goal game for Millersville this season, and second in a row.

The Marauders are now 3-0 in all-time meetings with the Griffins and have outscored Seton Hill 12-0 in those matchups.

Millersville returns to action tomorrow as the women's soccer team competes against another PSAC newcomer in Pitt-Johnston. Game time is 7:30 p.m. and the Marauders are selling t-shirts and wristbands for Red Card Cancer. More information about the Red Card Cancer events can be found here.
