Box Score Lock Haven, Pa. - With 10 minutes to play into Saturday's women's soccer game against Lock Haven, Millersville gave up a goal and it seemed like the match was headed for overtime. That is when
Megan Kelley and
Megan Wilson teamed up to score the game-winning goal against the Bald Eagles, lifting Millersville to a 2-1 win on Saturday night.
In the 84th minute, and with the score tied 1-1, Wilson sent a cross into the box and Kelley finished her shot towards the near post to give Millersville their seventh victory of the season. The Marauders have not won seven games in a season since 2009, when the team went 7-11-1.
Millersville (7-6-1, 6-5-1 PSAC) received most of its production from Kelley, Wilson, and freshman
Savannah Hall. Wilson also scored the team's first goal to total three points in the match. Hall assisted Wilson's score and was tied for the team lead with three shots in the contest. Keeper
Olivia Webber made two saves in her 12th career victory.
Lock Haven (4-9-1, 3-9-1 PSAC) was unable to penetrate the Marauder defensive line most of the night. The Bald Eagles took five shots and managed just three shots on goal. Dana Wozniak made four saves in the cage for the home team.
After neither team could score in the first half, Wilson and the Marauders finally broke through in the 60th minute.
After 15 minutes of play in the final period Millersville took the ball down the field and forced a corner kick. Hall assumed her normal corner kick duties and sent the ball into the box. The ball deflected off a few players and found the feet of Wilson who buried her shot for her third goal of the season.
When Lock Haven answered with the equalizer in the 80th minute, it took the visitors less than four minutes to go back on top.
Kelley's score in the 84th minute sealed the Black and Gold win and now has her tied with Wilson for the team lead in goals with four.
The Marauders have six days off before hosting Seton Hill and Pitt-Johnstown on homecoming weekend. Both games are "Red Card Cancer" events. Millersville takes on Seton Hill on Friday and the Mountain Cats on Saturday. Game times are 5 p.m. both days.
