THE STARTING FIVE
(1) Millersville's 8-3 overall start and 4-1 PSAC start is its best since 2006-07, but the Marauders are entering the most difficult stretch of its schedule. Slippery Rock and Edinboro, Friday and Saturday's opponents, have a combined 14-4 record. Slippery Rock and Edinboro boast possibly the biggest and most athletic big men in the PSAC. Slippery Rock's Devin Taylor (6-6), Tabari Perry (6-8) and Luiz Santos (6-10) pace a team that is avearging a remarkable 48.3 rebounds (18.9 offensive) per game. Both numbers rank first in the PSAC. Edinboro is no slouch on the glass either, ranking second in the league in rebounding offense (43.3) and offensive rebounds (15.2). With Marauder senior Elijah Obade leading the PSAC at 13.1 boards per game, five of the PSAC's top 12 rebounders will be in action in the doubleheader.

(2) Something has to give in the rebounding battle. Millersville is 7-1 when outrebounding its opponent. Slippery Rock has only been outrebounded once (Mansfield) as has Edinboro (Urbana). Obade has 24 double-digit rebounding games in three seasons including seven in 11 games this season. Millersville is 13-11 when he grabs at least 10 rebounds (5-2 this year) and  13-24 when he is under 10 rebounds. The Marauders are also 8-1 when scoring at least 26 points in the paint.

(3) Millersville needs only one more victory to match the win total from all of last season. The turnaround is no more evident than on the defensive end where the Marauders are ranked third in the PSAC in scoring defense (61.0) and sixth in field goal percentage defense (39.9). In 2011-12, when Millersville went 9-17, the team ranked 15th in scoring defense (77.6) and 14th in field goal percentage defense (46.6). The Marauders have held seven opponents to 60 points or fewer and are 8-1 when holding teams under 80 points.

(4) The Marauders return to the court Friday following a 16 day layoff, and they certainly hope that Jaymes Miller can duplicate his last performance. As a freshman and sophomore, Miller had scored double figures in 28 of 51 career games (54.9 percent of the time), but had managed a high of eight through the first 10 games. He delivered 18 points on 9-of-9 shooting against  Mercyhurst, though, and also recorded a career-high five steals. In three seasons, Millersville is 15-15 when Miller scores 10 or more and 12-23 when he scores fewer than 10.

(5) Fred Thompson had his first nine games against Slippery Rock, but The Rock has taken the last two meetings--both in Pucillo Gymnasium and both by a 12-point margin. Santos and Taylor combined for 24 rebounds while Obade and Miller combined for 10 in the last meeting. Even with Theriot not playing last season, Edinboro defeated Millersville 73-58 at home. Edinboro has not played in Pucillo since 2007 (78-73 Ville win) and has never won in the building.

ABOUT SLIPPERY ROCK
· Elijah Obade will have his hands full against Slippery Rock, which boasts maybe the most imposing front line in the PSAC. Devin Taylor, Luiz Santos and Tabari Perry all rank in the top 12 in the PSAC in rebounding, and Santos and Taylor ranked second and third in blocked shots.  The Rock is coming off a school-record 122 points scored against Ohio Eastern. It's a balanced team that ranks second in offense and fourth in defense. The Rock's only two losses came in low-scoring affairs when the opponent held them under 40 percent shooting from the field. The offensive production is somewhat skewed because of the 122 points scored against OUE. In the first eight games, Slipper Rock averaged 72.5 points per game, which would have been good for sixth in the PSAC. Gerald Brooks is a major addition to the roster. He's averaging 16.7 points in his first three games. He was last seen at IUP in 2008-09. He was the 2007 PSAC West Rookie of the Year and a three-time All-PSAC West selection.

ABOUT EDINBORO
·  Coach Greg Walcavich is in his 24th season at Edinboro and owns 573 victories, which ranks first among active PSAC coaches and sixth among active Division II coaches. Edinboro qualified for the PSAC Tournament in nine consecutive seasons from 2001-2009 but has missed three in a row. Center Bryan Theriot is staking a claim to the PSAC West Player of the Year  award, averaging 21.0 points (2nd) and 10.9 rebounds (2nd). Jay Fletcher (14.1 ppg) is a marksman from deep, hitting 40.4 percent of 3-pointers. Johnathan Logan has made more threes than Fletcher and is shooting at a 35.5 percent clip. At 83.7 points per game, Edinboro is the league's top-ranked scoring offense and it has sank the most 3-pointers.
