Marauders Tripped Up by Mercyhurst on Second Day of Crossover

Box Score Lock Haven, Pa. – After two rough matches in Friday's first leg of the PSAC Crossover for women's volleyball at Lock Haven University, the Marauders were looking get back on the winning track against Mercyhurst Saturday. The Lakers had other plans, and dropped Millersville's record to 6-7 and 0-3 in PSAC play as they downed the Marauders 3-0.

Mercyhurst won in straight sets by scores of 25-23, 25-12 and 25-12. Emily Kaledas turned in another strong performance for Millersville, finishing on seven kills while hitting at a .267 clip and adding two solo blocks on the defensive end. Jessica Franz had a team high 22 assists and the team was led defensively by Brooklyn Smith, who tallied 26 digs to lead the team in that category.

After dropping a close first set, Franz collided with teammate Katelyn Ort, causing the Marauders to use a timeout with the score at 8-6 Mercyhurst in the second set. Even though Franz was able to return, she was not 100 percent for the rest of the match and the offense suffered as a result, generating just 16 more total points in the next set-and-a-half.

The Marauders next hit the court on Tuesday when they travel to Shippensburg University for a 7 p.m. start. Last year, Millersville and the Red Raiders split two matches in PSAC East divisional play.
