SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Millersville university women's volleyball team finishes their three-game road stretch with a loss against the Raiders from Shippensburg University. Set scores were 25-17, 25-16, and 25-17.

Millersville (6-18, 1-9) totaled 23 kills, two aces, 23 assists, and 54 digs, while out-blocking Shippensburg (18-6, 10-0) six to five.
Becca Hartranft,
Alex Nava, and
Caroline Halsey led the Marauders' offense, with
Trinity Baldwin adding two aces from the service line.
Sam White,
Kinsey Reuwer, and
Marin Esch each tallied three blocks, and
Sidonia Cecco anchored the defense with a team-high 16 digs.

The Marauders found themselves playing catch-up early as the Raiders opened with an 8-4 run. Hartranft broke the momentum, cutting the deficit to two. With the score at 11-9, Shippensburg responded with three straight points to extend their lead to five. Nava and Hartranft helped Millersville close the gap to one following several attacking errors by the Raiders. Despite the brief shift in momentum, Shippensburg regained control with a dominant 9-2 run to close out the first set.

Shippensburg carried their momentum into the second set, opening with a 7-3 scoring run. Baldwin and
Addy Van Oosten helped the Marauders close the gap to 8-7, but the Raiders responded with four straight points to extend their lead. Esch fueled a 4-0 Millersville run to bring the score back within one, yet Shippensburg quickly regained control with a dominant 7-0 surge. Despite their efforts, the Marauders were unable to recover and dropped the second set.

The Marauders came out stronger in the third set, taking an early lead with kills from White, Hartranft, and Esch. However, Shippensburg quickly regained control with a dominant 12-2 scoring run. Four Raider errors allowed Millersville to close the gap to within five, but a series of costly mistakes swung the momentum back to Shippensburg. Nava and Halsey continued to battle, bringing the Marauders within five once more, but the Raiders closed out the match with a decisive 5-2 run.
"As a team, we are definitely blocking better and playing more defensively as a whole," said Millersville Coach
Brian Smith. "At this point in the season, it's evident that we have made a lot of growth as a team, and I look forward to seeing how we finish off the season."
The Marauders are back on their home court Friday, Nov 7 as they host the Warriors from East Stroudsburg at 6 p.m.
