Box Score Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville women's soccer team played 110 minutes against the Shippensburg Red Raiders, and neither team could find the back of the net as they drew a 0-0 tie on Saturday evening.
The Marauders (3-3-1, 1-2-1 PSAC) were led at attack by
Kristin Lepley and
Chrissy McLaughlin who took four and three shots respectively. Goalkeeper
Olivia Webber recorded eight saves in the contest--her second best total this season.
The Red Raiders (3-3-3, 1-3-2 PSAC) outshot Millersville 21-11 in the game and took four more corners than the Marauders. Katie Leverentz led the Shippensburg attack with six shots while keeper Shelbie Rackley gathered five saves.
Shippensburg's best chance to score was in the 61st minute when the played a corner into the box. The ball slipped past Webber and a Red Raider attacker fired a shot on goal. Marauder defender
Lindsay Wilson used a defensive save to thwart the Shippensburg opportunity.
Millersville had several close chances in the overtime periods. In the first extra frame
Felicia Cramer played a cross into the box and a great save by Rackley would stop the Marauder attack before it could begin.
Just 30 seconds into the second overtime Lepley blasted a shot from 30 yards out, but it just missed the upper left 90 of the goal by a few feet.
The draw marks Millersville's first tie of the season and first since the tied Shippensburg last season.
The Marauders travel to Gannon on Sept. 28 for their fifth straight PSAC contest. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. against the Golden Knights.
