Marauders Claim Comback Win at Cal

Box Score Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville men's soccer team notched a key come-from-behind victory in the PSAC opener at California (Pa.) Wednesday afternoon. The Marauders scored two late second half goals to down the Vulcans 2-1 on their home turf.

The Vulcans (2-4, 0-1 PSAC) got on the board first with a goal in the second half off the foot of Jeffrey Kyei. Millersville (4-2, 1-0 PSAC) responded on a header from the team's lone senior Matt Kadoch off a pass from teammate Jaime Vazquez. With only five minutes to play Ryan Rohrer gathered in a pass from Andrew Dukes and scored the game-winner sealing Millersville's first PSAC win of the year.

Millersville has now won six in a row over the Vulcans since falling in the 2008 PSAC Championship. On Wednesday, the teams were evenly matched throughout the entire game. The Marauders held a narrow 15-12 advantage in shots and an even closer 4-3 advantage in corners.

The first goal of the game came in the 63rd minute. California forward Jeffrey Kyei created his own shot and slotted the ball past Marauder keeper Brad Benzing to give the Vulcans the 1-0 lead.

Exactly 10 minutes later the only senior on this year's team knocked in the equalizer for Millersville. Matt Kadoch out jumped the defense and heading in the tying goal on a pass from midfielder Jaime Vazquez in the 73rd minute.

In the 84th minute junior Dukes found Rohrer who fired a shot past Vulcan keeper Shane Donavan to put the Marauders on top, 2-1.

Benzing and the Millersville defense were able to keep California (Pa.) scoreless the rest of the way and sealed the 2-1 victory for the Marauders.

Vazquez (4) and Kadoch (3) led the team in shots while Benzing tallied two saves in the game.

Millersville returns home to host a PSAC contest against the Shippensburg Red Raiders on Saturday. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
