Charlottesville, Va. – While last weekend's PSAC Outdoor Championships were the last chance for most of the Millersville men and women's track & field teams to qualify for the NCAA Championships in two weeks, three Marauders had one more chance at an NCAA automatic qualifiying mark at the Virginia Challenge Saturday. All three, however, came up short.
Keith Ogden Jr. was the only member of the men's team to compete, running in the 400-meter hurdles. His time of 53.18 was not enough to match the 51.82-second time needed to automatically qualify. It did, however, give him third place in the event. Ogden had his best NCAA provisional time of the season at the PSAC Championships last Saturday, clocking in at 52.74 seconds.
Katherine Lennex also had her best triple jump provisional qualifier at PSAC's, taking an 11.73-meter leap. She fell short of that result at the Virginia Challenge with a jump of 11.55 meters, placing fourth in the event. Lennex needed a triple jump of 12.42 meters to secure a bid at the NCAA Championships.
The final member of the Marauders to compete Saturday was
Megan Meyer, who did not have a provisional qualifier in the 800-meter run coming into the day. Meyer need a time of 2:09.36 to automatically qualify for nationals, but only finished with a time of 2:18.70, placing 23
