Four Marauders Qualify for PSACs, Eight Have Team Best Results at Ship

Shippensburg, Pa. – Millersville had four more PSAC Championship qualifiers at the Paul Kaiser Classic Saturday as well as eight competitors take down team season-best results.
 
The men's team had three PSAC qualifiers, with Andrew Langston qualifying in the 100-meter dash in both of his runnings. Langston ran an 11.30-second preliminary time to qualify for the event finals. In the finals, he finished fourth with a better time of 11.26 seconds.
 
In the 200-meter dash, Jeffrey Robinson assured himself a spot at the PSAC Championships with a 22.77-second fifth place finish. Also for the men's team, Chris Jackson Jr. grabbed a spot in the postseason in the 400-meter hurdles. His time of 57.67 seconds was good for a seventh place finish.
 
For the women, the lone qualifier was Jess Fritsche, who took a spot in the triple jump with a ninth place finish of 10.64 meters. For the women, Brittany Calvert, Megan Meyer and Katherine Lennex all set season-best times for the team in their respective events.
 
Calvert placed 19th with a time of 17.57 to tie her own season-best in the event. In the 800-meter run, Meyer ran the top time of the season, clocking in at 2:17.26 to place sixth. Lennex topped her own team-best distance in the long jump with a fifth-place leap of 5.32 meters.
 
For the men, five season-best events were topped. In the 3,000-meter run, Connor Veres finished third with a time of 8:51.08 to take the top spot. Melvin Fields, Zach Kohler and Justin Berg were the other individual competitors to grab team-best results, all in field events.
 
Fields had a long jump of 6.43 meters to place 16th, Kohler had a discus throw of 34.83 meters to notch a season best and place 23rd, and Berg claimed the top spot in the hammer throw at 48.13 meters, placing sixth overall. Finally, the 4x100-meter relay team of Langston, Thomas Wexler, Tayon Haygood and Anthony Adamski placed third, running in a time of 43.15 to post the best time by a foursome this season.
 
This was the last chance for the Marauders to claim spots at the PSAC Championships. The team will take part in the conference championship meet next weekend from May 3-5.
