Millersville, Pa. - Two doubles matches went to the wire and three singles matches went to three sets, but it was Kutztown, not the homestanding Millersville men's tennis team, that came out on top. Kutztown won all but one match for an 8-1 win in Tuesday's PSAC match.
Both the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches were decided by 8-6 scores. Kutztown (5-4, 2-0 PSAC) won both and went on to sweep the doubles matches.
In singles, Millersville (1-7, 0-2 PSAC) started quickly with a win in the No. 1 slot from
Preetham Moras. Moras dropped the first set to Varun Desai 6-2, but rallied to win sets two and three by 6-2 and 6-0 scores.
That was it for the Marauders, though.
Jody Sambrick Jr. took Matthew Maguire to three sets at No. 3 singles but ultimately fell by a 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 count. At No. 4 singles,
Corey Garnier took the first set, 6-4, but Ben Nace won the next two sets by scores of 6-1 and 10-6 to win the match.
Tuesday's match was the start of four consecutive home matches for Millersville. The Marauders host West Chester Saturday at 11 a.m.
