Men’s Soccer Sets 2012 Summer Camps For July

Millersville, Pa. – The 2011 NSCAA Atlantic Region Coach of the Year Steve Widdowson and his NCAA Semifinalist Millersville Marauders have released the dates for their upcoming summer soccer camps. A boy's overnight residential camp will run from July 15-18 and a boy's day camp will run from July 16-19.

The overnight residential camp is for 12-18 year olds, and will include a technical field session and a tactical field session as well as a game session each day. The four-day camp will involve position specific training, small sided games, tactical and technical training, and footwork/speed and agility training. Goalkeeper specific training will be provided in every session. All campers will receive a t-shirt and a ball and awards will be presented to the winners of skills competitions. Cost of the camp is $430 for a residential camper and $370 for a commuting camper. Team, family, and early discounts are available.

The day camp is for ages 8-14. The four-day camp will hold two sessions per day that include speed/agility and quickness training, detailed technical training in small number situations, small sided games, and tactical training in larger number games. All campers will receive a t-shirt and ball and awards will be provided for skills competition winners. The cost of the day camp is $160. Family and early discounts are available.

Both clinics will be headed by Millersville men's soccer head coach Steve Widdowson. Widdowson led the Marauders to their best season in school history in 2011 after collecting the program's first PSAC Tournament Championship and first-ever trip to the NCAA Semifinals. Widdowson is entering his sixth year with the program and has already collected two NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships, a PSAC Championship, two PSAC Eastern Division Championships, five-straight PSAC Tournament appearances, three NCAA Tournament appearances, an NCAA Semifinal appearance and guided the program to its first ever No. 1 ranking on Nov. 3, 2009. As a player, Widdowson played goalkeeper for the 1994 NCAA semifinalist Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

The two-time NSCAA Atlantic Region and PSAC Eastern Division Coach of the Year has developed two All-Americans, 18 All-PSAC selections, 19 All-Atlantic Region honorees, two PSAC East Athletes of the Year and a PSAC Rookie of the Year.
