Box Score West Chester, Pa. - A red-hot West Chester offense and a sluggish Millersville start was a lethal combination for the Marauders Saturday at Hollinger Field House. West Chester raced to a 17-point half time lead and coasted to an 81-70 victory that decimated the Marauders playoff hopes.
It's likely a good thing that Millersville (7-13, 5-11 PSAC) only has to play in Hollinger Field House once a year. Saturday's loss gave Millersville 15 in 17 games since 1995. Millersville entered the game trailing West Chester for the fourth palyoff spot from the PSAC East, but the loss moves it a full three games behind the Golden Rams with six games remaining.
West Chester (11-9, 8-8 PSAC) shot a blistering 60 percent from the field and made 5-of-8 3-pointers. Millersville could not keep pace despite
Larry Grant's game-high 24 points.
Millersville's last lead came with more than 18 minutes remaining in the first half. Grant scored Millersville's first four points but a 15-5 run by West Chester over the next five minutes opened a 19-7 lead, and the home team was never threatened the rest of the way.
Four Golden Rams scored in double figures. Jon Breeden led the team with 15 points.
Elijah Obade recorded a double-double for the Marauders with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Millersville hosts Cheyney Wednesday at Pucillo Gymnasium. Tip is 8 p.m.
