Marauders Get Ship-Wrecked

Box Score Shippensburg, Pa. - Shippensburg scored the first seven points of the Wednesday's game and Millersville never recovered. The Marauders trailed the homestanding Red Raiders from start to finish and were handed an 81-70 loss.

Millersville (9-16, 7-14 PSAC) lost its third consecutive game largely because of the shooting of Shippensburg (10-17, 7-14 PSAC). The Red Raiders cashed in 7-of-14 3-pointers including three of its first four. They shot 54.7 percent from the field.

Millersville trailed by as many as 17 in the first half but narrowed Ship's lead to 30-24 with 1:59 to go. Ship, however, closed the half on a 6-0 run including a Craig Van Scyoc layup as time expired.

That bucket was the end of Millersville's run. Shippensburg built the lead to 20 before the Marauders closed the gap with the scoring of Tramaine White late. White scored a career-high 13 points, hitting 3-of-4 from the field, 2-of-3 from deep and 5-of-9 from the free throw line.

The Marauders played without point guard Larry Grant, and the offense struggled to generate offense. Jaymes Miller led Millersville with 16 points. Elijah Obade missed a double-double for the first time in five games with eight points and five boards.

Five Red Raiders scored in double figures, including Jordan Stasyszyn, who totaled 19 on 5-of-6 3's.

Millersville closes its season Saturday at Bloomsburg. Tip is 3 p.m.
