Coleman Fuels Marauders to 62-49 Win Over Bloomsburg

Box Score Millersville, Pa. - Anthony Coleman showed no aftereffects of the concussion that held him out of Wednesday's game. Coleman returned to the Millersville lineup in a big way Saturday against Bloomsburg, scoring 19 points off the bench and providing the spark his team needed for a 62-49 win.

Millersville (7-2, 3-0 PSAC) extended its winning streak to seven and has started 3-0 against PSAC opponents for only the second time since 1987.

Coleman had played in 57-consecutive games before missing Wednesday's win against Goldey-Beacom. On Saturday, he scored a season high in points, shooting 6-of-11 from the field and 7-of-9 from the free throw line. His offense was desperately needed as the Marauders were held scoreless for the first 7:25 and had only two points on the board with nearly half of the first period played.

Soon after entering the game, Coleman drove hard to the hoop for two. He picked up a shooting foul on the next trip and sank both foul shots to bring Millersville to within 9-6.

Millersville once again relied on its defense to keep the game close. After falling behind 23-17 with 5:02 remaining in the first, the Marauders surrendered just two points the rest of the half. Coleman assisted Xavier Mumford for two, starting a 10-2 run for the Marauders, giving them a 27-25 lead at the break.

Bloomsburg stayed with the Marauders through the first nine minutes of the second half and even led 35-34 after a layup from Charles Haigler. Coleman, however, scored on back-to-back possessions, and the Marauders ripped off a 13-2 run over the next five-plus minutes to build its lead to double figures.

Millersville put the win away at the free throw line, sinking 11-of-15 in the final four minutes.

The Marauders shot 20-of-28 from the line in the game and 43.2 percent from the field. Bloomsburg was Millersville's sixth opponent in the last seven games that was held under 60 points. Millersville has held teams to fewer than 50 points in four of its seven wins. Five of the tema's seven wins have come by double-digits.

Brandon Belt sank two threes and provided 13 points. Elijah Obade totaled 10 boards, giving him double-digit rebounds in seven of nine games. He also blocked five shots.

The Marauders receive a week off to focus on finals but begin a difficult portion of their schedule on Dec. 18 and 19 in back-to-back home games against Gannon and Mercyhurst.
