Gannon Snaps Marauders' Streak

Box Score Millersville, Pa. - Nothing came easy for Millersville against the PSAC's top-ranked scoring defense Tuesday night in Pucillo Gymnasium. Gannon hounded the Marauders into 33.3 percent shooting and snapped their seven-game winning streak by a 69-52 final.

Millersville (7-3, 3-1 PSAC) fell for the first time since Nov. 10 and was limited to its lowest scoring output of the season by the Golden Knights (8-2, 2-2 PSAC), which entered the game holding teams to a mere 57.6 points per game.

The Marauders held a 27-26 lead at the break, but Gannon slowly pulled away in the second half. The Marauders managed just six points from the 15:10 mark until 6:29 left in the game. Millersville shot just 10-of-32 from the field in the second and came up empty on nine 3-point attempts. Gannon, meanwhile, shot 15-of-23 from the field and put up 43 points in the second.

Former Golden Knight and now Marauder Brandon Belt led Millersville with 11 points. Xavier Mumford scored 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds off the bench. Oscar Macias, who kept Gannon in the game early with 15 first-half points, made his first six shots from the field and finished with a game-high 20.

Millersville is now 3-10 all-time against Gannon and 0-3 since the Golden Knights joined the league in 2008-09.

The Marauders host Gannon's Erie neighbor on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. Fans that bring a toy for the Toys-for-Tots drive receive free admission. It is also military appreciation day with active military and veterans receiving free admission.
