Meet Results

Lock Haven, Pa. - The Millersville women's swimming team entered the pool for its final competition of the calendar year and narrowly lost a close contest with nationally-ranked Lock Haven 106-98 on Friday evening.

Millersville (2-2) was only able to win three of the 11 events but stayed in the meet until the very end. Freshman Grace Magerr led the Marauders with two first-place finishes, and senior Arielle Walbert picked up the other win for Millersville.

Magerr nabbed victories in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.68 and in the 500-yard freestyle with a finish of 5:23.86. Her 200 free time met a PSAC Championships qualifying standard.

Walbert ran away with the 1,000-yard freestyle. The senior's time of 11:22.41 was more than 16 seconds faster than the closest competitor. She was just under one second shy of beating her personal best of the season.

First year Marauder Janelle Laudermilch recorded a PSAC qualifying time of 1:10.91 with her second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke. It was Laudermilch's second time reaching the conference qualifying time in the event.

Millersville's foursome of Amanda Thomas, Jade Wise, Jessica Del Monaco, and Laudermilch was edged by the Bald Eagles' top team in the final event--the 200-yard freestyle relay--by 0.8 seconds. The Marauder teams took second and third place in the event, but Lock Haven (2-1), the nation's 21st-ranked team, was able to get the top spot and take the meet by eight points.

The Marauders receive a 49 day break before returning to action in the 2012-13 season. Millersville's next meet is at home on Jan. 19 against cross county foe Franklin and Marshall. The meet is set to start at 1 p.m.
