Marauders Keep Rolling in 5-1 Rout of ESU

Box Score Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville men's soccer team sent its alumni home smiling Saturday. Matt Kadoch totaled two goals and an assist as the Marauders ripped rival East Stroudsburg on Alumni Day at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.

Prior to the game, the 2011 PSAC Championship club was recognized as part of Alumni Day festivities. Kadoch, who was one of the key performers in that postseason run, might have been having a flashback as he scored his sixth and seventh goals of the season early, propelling Millersville (9-6, 6-2 PSAC) to its fourth consecutive victory.

Four games ago, the Marauders were under .500 and had been dealt its fourth consecutive loss by W.Va. Wesleyan. Since then, the Marauders have outscored opponents 11-3 and have raced their way into a tie for first place in the PSAC standings with Gannon.

With a vocal alumni crowd sparking a quick start, Kadoch followed up a mishandled ball ESU's Callum Hampson and scored on an empty net. At the 18:14 mark, Ryan Rohrer raced up the right sideline and centered the ball to a streaking Kadoch, who buried the ball for a 2-0 lead.

ESU's Nick Fischer put his team on the board just before halftime when Millersville failed to clear a throw-in. Kadoch helped Millersville extend the lead just under nine minutes later, though, when his shot was followed by Zack Caracciolo, who notched his second goal of the season.

East Stroudsburg helped Millersville's cause with an own goal at 73:18, but Andrew Dukes and Ben Johnston hooked up on a breakaway for Dukes' fourth goal of the season.

Brad Benzing improved to 6-1 in goal with three saves. Millersville totaled 14 corner kicks to East Stroudsburg's one and out-shot the Warriors, 21-9.

Since Steve Widdowson took over at Millersville in 2007, the Marauders are 8-3 against East Stroudsburg. Prior to his arrival, the Marauders were 6-40-3 against the Warriors.

Millersville steps outside of PSAC play on Wednesday with a road game at Philadelphia University. Start time is 3 p.m.
