ABOUT THE DUALS
· Millersville hosts three matches Saturday, first against Boston University at 10 a.m., then Harvard at noon and finally against Brown at 2 p.m. The Marauders carry a 1-0 record, having defeated Sacred Heart 28-20 on Dec. 2.
· The Marauders come into today's dual matches with several impressive freshmen playing prominent roles in their lineup. Josh Ruppert boasts a 6-3 record from his 133-pound weight class with four falls while fellow freshman Joel Suter has put together an 8-5 record with six pins.
· While senior Shane Smith has gotten off to a slow start with a 3-7 record at 174, an encouraging sign for Smith is that all three of his wins have been pins. Smith also claimed fifth place at the PSAC Championships on Dec. 10.
· Senior Bradley Ladd has anchored the back end of the Marauders lineup well, posting a 6-4 record with three pins. Ladd won three-of-five matches at the Wilkes Open on Dec. 28.
· Brandon Vernalli (165) is coming off a second-place finish at the Wilkes Open. He went 4-1 at the event with two major decisions and a pin.
· The Marauders' first opponent, Boston University, has wrestled three dual matches and is 3-0. The Terriers claimed victories over Cleveland State, North Carolina and Lock Haven, respectively, at the Wrestle for a Cure Duals.
·The middle opponent of the day, Harvard, has not wrestled a dual meet yet. Walt Peppelman, ranked fifth in the nation and holding a 9-3 record, leads the Crimson at 157. Steven Keith is also a big contributor to the Crimson lineup at 133. Keith is ranked 13th nationally and brings a 16-6 record to the mat.
· Brown, the Marauders' final opponent of the day, has also not yet wrestled in a dual meet. The Bears finished in ninth place at the Keystone Duals in Philadelphia on Nov. 20.
