Marauders Ride Obade's Big Night to Win Over Ship

Box Score Millersville, Pa. - There was little Shippensburg could do. It was simply Elijah Obade's night. The junior center registered totaled 21 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks to lead Millersville to a 75-70 wire-to-wire, home victory Wednesday evening.

Obade, the PSAC's leading shot blocker, totaled 17 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in the first half alone, giving him his second consecutive double-double and fourth of the season. Nine of his boards came on the offensive glass. The win improved Millersville to 6-11 overall but more importantly to 4-9 in the PSAC, keeping them close to the fourth playoff spot in the PSAC East.

Shippensburg (6-13, 3-10 PSAC) entered the game as the PSAC's top shooting team and still managed to shoot 45.8 percent from the field. The Red Raiders were undone by its 17 turnovers, though, and Millersville turned those into 18 points.

Riding Obade's big first half, the Marauders built a 39-28 lead at the break--it's largest halftime lead of the season. Shippensburg cranked up the offense in the second frame, outscoring Millersville 42-36. Millersville opened the second with a 7-0 run to build the lead to 16 points, but Shippensburg cut it to as few as three points on two different occasions. Sam Pygatt's layup with 8:57 left made the score 54-51, but Millersville's C.J. Scott immediatley responded with back-to-back scores to keep the Marauders on top. Shippensburg would never again creep within five points.

The Marauders led the game start-to-finish. Larry Grant hit 5-of-10 from the field and 5-of-5 from the line for 16 points, and he added five assists. Anthony Coleman pushed his streak of consecutive games in double figures to five with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting.
