East Stroudsburg Slips Past Millersville, 5-4

Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville women's tennis team won three of five singles matches, including a three-hour match between Melisa Plowman and Amanda Kaufman, but East Stroudsburg managed to squeak by for a 5-4 win Saturday at McComsey Tennis Courts.

Millersville fell to 4-6 overall and 1-1 in the PSAC with the loss, and East Stroudsburg improved to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the league.

In the No. 1 singles spot, Plowman and Kaufman engaged in back-and-forth thriller. Kaufman took the first set by a 7-5 score, but Plowman rallied and took the second and third sets by indentical 7-5 scores.

ESU swept the No. 2-4 flights, but Kelsey Waite and Elizabeth Wagner picked up victories for the Marauders at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots.

Millersville, however, managed only one win in doubles action. The No. 3 team of Wagner and Waite paired for an 8-0 triumph.

Millersville hosts Bloomsburg in its final home match of the year on Monday, April 4.
