Millersville, Pa. – After trailing by one at the half, Millersville pulled away in the final minutes to earn a 76-69 victory over East Stroudsburg Wednesday evening. Four Marauders in double-figures aided the second half comeback. The win also kept Millersville firmly in playoff contention.
Millersville (10-12, 5-6 PSAC East) outscored the Warriors (12-11, 5-6 PSAC East) by 12-7 margin over the final four minutes to split the season match-ups.
The Marauders opened the second half with consecutive foul shots by freshman Mike Holley to take their first lead since 3:26 remaining in the first and they never trailed the rest of the way.
Senior Bernard Brown led the way for Millersville by scoring 12 of his 17 points in the second period. Brown also collected nine boards in his efforts and had six blocks. It was his third-straight game of at least 17 points and nine rebounds. Junior Demond Vance, and freshmen Mike Holley and Jaymes Miller also finished the game in double-digits for the Marauders. Vance and Holley scored 16 apiece and Miller added 13.
East Stroudsburg won the first contest against the Marauders back on Jan. 30 when the Warriors escaped a second half Millersville surge to take the 76-70 victory on their home court. Now the two clubs, along with Cheyney are in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Eastern Division.
Millersville travels to West Chester for another pivotal Eastern Division match-up. Last time out, the Marauders defeated the Golden Rams, 82-70. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. inside Hollinger Fieldhouse.
