Box Score Box Score

Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville men's basketball team took a 59-46 lead on visiting Mercyhurst with 11:39 to go in Saturday's PSAC opener. Then the Marauders went cold, and Mercyhurst got hot. The Lakers erased the 13-point deficit and handed Millersville its first loss of the season, 84-75.

After Anthony Coleman's basket gave Millersville its largest lead of the game, Mercyhurst's Andrew Rickard and Christian Heine connected on back-to-back threes to start the run. Mercyhurst scored on eight of its next nine possessions to tie the game at 69-69. Elijah Obade made one of two from the line for Millersville to retake a one point lead, but Rickard gave Mercyhurst its first lead of the second half with 3:27 to go on a jumper. Coleman, who scored 13 points for his third consecutive game in double figures, made both of his free throws to put Millersville back in front, 72-71.

On the Lakers' next offensive trip, Callon Dailey connected for two to push the Lakers back in the lead--a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way. Millersville went 0-for-6 from the floor and committed five turnovers over the final 6:07.

Despite the late-game woes, Millersville still shot 16-of-27 from the field in the second half and 25-of-51 (49 percent) in the game. It also knocked down 22-of-28 free throws. The Marauders' problem was that the Lakers were even better from the field, hitting 68 percent of its shots in the second, including 5-of-8 from three. The Lakers finished 29-of-54 from the field and 10-of-19 from 3-point range.

Millersville was led by Larry Grant's career-high 25 points and four assists. He shot 9-of-17 from the field and 6-of-6 from the line. Mike Seibert added 11 on 2-of-4 threes and 5-of-5 from the free throw stripe. Mercyhurst's Rickard scored 24 and Matt Lee added 23 on five threes and 9-of-14 shooting.

The lead changed hands 10 times in the game, including seven times in the first half alone and the score stood tied six times. Grant made a late driving jumper just before the half to give Millersville 32-31 edge at the break.

Since Mercyhurst joined the PSAC in 2008-09, the Lakers have won all three meetings with Millersville, but all three games have been decided by nine points or fewer.

The Marauders, now 2-1 on the season, host Slippery Rock in another PSAC clash Sunday afternoon at Pucillo Gymnasium. Tip is scheduled for 3 p.m. Fans can listen live on MSBN or watch the game on All-Access.
