
Martin and Anderson Spark Marauders to Fifth Place Finish

Slippery Rock, Pa. - With Brittney Martin and Elicia Anderson both placing in the top 10, the Millersville women's cross country team placed fifth in the Slippery Rock Invitational's 12-team field.
Martin posted a season-best 21 seconds lower than her previous top time. She took ninth place with a time of 23:26.9. Anderson, in just her second race back from a long injury layoff, ran a time of 22:29.8 on the 6K course and finished third. Anderson finished just behind East Stroudsburg's Rosie Mascoli and Corinne Fitzgerald. Mascoli took the individual title with a time of 21:59.1.
Junior Sarah Mulvey turned in another strong finish as well, crossing the line in 22nd place with a time of 24:25.6. It was her second consecutive top-25 finish. Michelle Blum placed just two spots later in 24th with a time of 24:27.7. Rebekah Moore, who placed 12th in her last race out, dropped to 46th. Megan Meyer placed 64th.
Millersville placed third among PSAC schools in the race. East Stroudsburg won the title with 52 points. Slippery Rock placed second just 10 spots behind. Division I Robert Morris took third and WVIAC member Seton Hill placed fourth.
Millersville is off until the PSAC Championships on Oct. 22.
