ABOUT THE GAME
· In the PSAC, few rivalries have been as hotly contested as the Millersville/Cheyney match-up. Historically, the two programs are among the elite in the league and since 2000, Millersville holds a slight 13-11 edge in the series. Only six of those 24 games have been decided by more than 10 points. and three went into overtime. Cheyney has had the Marauders' number of late, winning five of the last six. Millersville's last win was a wild, 61-59 game at Cheyney in 2008-09. Last year, the Wolves won by scores of 57-52 and 88-74.
· Millersville is trying to become more consistent. Millersville scored 87 against Lock Haven and Bloomsburg but managed just 55 against Mansfield in its last game. The Marauders trailed by just two (34-32) at the half but went ice cold in the second period, scoring just 23 points on 6-of-27 shooting. Second half performance has been an issue all year. In the team's 13 games, it has outscored oppents 421-384 in the first period but has been outscored 495-454 (38.1-34.9) in the second. In the eight losses, Millersville has allowed an average of 41.1 points and scored just 34.8 in the second.
· Freshman
Jaymes Miller has quickly developed into a potent low-post scoring threat for the Marauders. He has scored in double figures in three-straight games and has improved his career high in each of those games. Against Mansfield, the freshman totaled 15 points and matched a career high with seven rebounds. He is averaging 12.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in just 24.0 minutes of action.
· Millersville will certainly have its hands full trying to stop Sharif Bray, but Cheyney will also have a hard time stopping
Demond Vance. Vance enters the game with double figures in each of the last seven games--the longest such streak by a Marauder since Makal Stibbins ran off 12-straight games in 2008-09. He's been one of the most productive players in the PSAC at both ends of the floor in that stretch, averaging 16.1 points. 3.0 assists and 2.1 steals. He's also shooting 48.9 percent from the field and 72 percent from the line.
· To make a playoff run in the PSAC, winning at home is essential. From 2000-01 to 2007-08, Millersville dominated the division in Pucillo Gymnasium, posting a 39-10 record in eight years. But over the last three years, Millersville is 5-10.
ABOUT CHEYNEY
· Cheyney boasts two of the most prolific scorers in the PSAC. Sharif Bray, an All-PSAC East First Team pick last year, has already been named PSAC East Player of the Week three times this year. After averaging 21.7 points per game last year, he's picked up right where he left off. He's second in the league in scoring at 21.2 points per game this year. He has hit a game-winning shot three times this year. He can hurt you in multiple ways. He shots 45.3 percent from the field, 39.8 percent from three and nearly 81 percent from the free throw line. He averages 15.1 shot attempts and 6.4 free throw attempts per game. Bray scored 33 in Cheyney's 80-79 win over Shippensburg on Saturday.
· If you can manage to contain Cheyney, David Burton has the ability to take over. He ranks fifth in the PSAC with 17.2 points per game. The post player has converted 49.5 percent of his shot attempts, leads Cheyney in rebounding at 8.7 per game and has swatted a team-high 22 shots.
· Cheyney shot 62 percent from the field in the win over Shippensburg, it hasn't been blowing out opponents. The last three games were decided by a total of five points. 10 of the team's 14 games have been decided by 10 points or fewer. it is 7-3 in those games.
