Marauders Go Cold in Second Half; Fall to Mansfield

Millersville, Pa. - Mansfield turned a two-point halftime lead into a 20-point victory over Millersville Saturday in Pucillo Gymnasium. Homestanding Millersville sank just six field goals in a ice-cold second period and suffered its most lopsided home loss of the year, 75-55.

The Marauders (5-8, 0-2 PSAC East) trailed by as many as 13 in the first period, but roared back using three-straight 3-pointers from Jim Kelleher, Mike Holley and Demond Vance. Millersville scored the final five points of the half to trail just 34-32.

Mansfield (9-5, 1-1 PSAC East) was hot from the start. It hit 6-of-9 3-pointers in the first period. It kept rolling in the second, and Millersville couldn't keep pace. Mansfield out-scored the Marauders 15-4 in the first 5:30 minutes of the half and continued to grow the lead. Millersville had no answer, shooting 6-of-27 from the field and 1-of-10 from three.

The play of freshman Jaymes Miller was one of a few bright spots for the Marauders. He scored eight of his career-high 14 points in the second half and also hauled in seven rebounds. He has now scored double-figures off the bench in three-straight games.

Demond Vance added 13 points, two assists and two steals. Mike Holley scored 10 points but was 3-of-11 from the field and 1-of-6 from three.

Mansfield's Yuseff Carr lead all scorers with 16 points in just 20 minutes.

Millersville hosts PSAC East rival Cheyney Wednesday in Pucillo Gymnasium. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m.
