Indiana, Pa. — Homestanding Indiana (Pa.) scored three goals in each half, keeping the Millersville women's soccer team in search of its first win of the season in a 6-1 PSAC match at South Campus Field on Wednesday afternoon.
IUP (6-2-1, 4-2-1 PSAC) got the scoring started in the 16th minute as Melissa Kornock finished off a pass from Carter Sheely for her eighth goal of the season.
Sheely would grab her third goal of the year in the 32nd minute and Lindsay Lobevero added one more in the 44th minute to give the home side a 3-0 lead at the half.
Taylor Suskie netted the only goal for Millersville (0-7-1, 0-5-1 PSAC), doing so 2:29 into the second half. The goal was Suskie's first of the 2010 campaign and came off of an
Allison Snyder feed.
Michelle Grozinsky answered Suskie's tally with a Crimson Hawk goal just over two minutes later that gave IUP a comfortable 4-1 edge. Allison Keller (70th minute) and Tori Pikur (84th minute) rounded out the scoring for IUP. Both Sheely and Keller registered three-point afternoons.
Millersville, which hasn't gone winless this deep into a season since 2007 (0-8-1), got four first half saves from
Kelsey Benson. Benson gave way to
Laura Reed in the second half and Reed also made four saves. Both goalkeepers gave up three IUP markers a piece.
The Crimson Hawks outshot the Marauders 14-8 on Thursday and also took the only two corner kicks in the game.
Millersville stays on the road to face Shepherd on Saturday at noon.
