Box Score
East Stroudsburg, Pa. — A goal in each half lifted East Stroudsburg to a 2-1 victory over the Millersville women's soccer team in PSAC action on Saturday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
Still looking for their first win, both overall and in conference play, the Marauders (0-6-1, 0-4-1 PSAC) didn't find the back of the net until
Niki Roberts scored with two seconds remaining in regulation to break up East Stroudsburg's (3-4-1, 2-4 PSAC) shutout bid.
Breanne Ingargiola and Kerri McClay staked the home side to a 2-0 advantage. Ingargiola scored 22:26 into the game and the goal stood as the only marker until the 69th minute. That's when McClay took a Megan Keiser pass and beat MU keeper
Kelsey Benson for an insurance goal that would prove to be a big one in the final count.
Roberts took away a shutout from opposing keeper Melissa Myers at 89:58. Roberts' goal was her first of the season and it kept the Marauders from being blanked for the fifth time this season.
Jenna Gould, who along with
Lauren Thomas, took a team-high three shots, assisted on Roberts' marker.
Besides Roberts goal, Millersville did have a fair amount of offense to speak of on Saturday night. The Black and Gold took nine shots, but were doubled-plus-one by East Stroudsburg, which took 19.
Benson made a career-high 10 saves in defeat. The double-digit save performance was Millersville's first since Oct. 31, 2009, when
Taylor Suskie made 11 saves at Shippensburg in the season finale.
The Marauders head to Indiana (Pa.) on Wednesday night for a conference match scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
